Chistmas Holidays

Here are a few random events we have enjoyed during the holidays!

Tacky/ Dirty Santa
Chris made fun of me saying, "it's not eighties tacky Christmas" (referring to my lovely head band)! So, I was pretty amused that once we got to the party he was quickly referred to as Mr. Rogers. Check out that awesome outfit..............turtle neck from Gateway and stunning vest from a consignment shop in Pearl.

Mr. Rogers....it's a lovely day in the neighborhood!! LOL
He was such a great sport, I just love him sooooo much!

We played dirty Santa and Crystal picked my gift......I thought it was a cute saying!
Brian wanted to compare bellies :)

Snow Day

Chris had drill and Colby stayed the night with Gammy & Paw, so they enjoyed playing in the snow while I got some much needed rest!

Christmas Pictures
On the way to take pictures Colby was all smiles...............not so much during the shoot. He displayed tantrums, body lock outs that resulted on the ground, and went on a smile protest. Katie still did a great job and I'm amazed she got so many good shots.

Here are few pics but you can take a look at all our pictures

Signing Benefits for Identifying Letters

Signing letters gives children the opportunity to learn letters easily. Colby is 24 months old and can identify A, B, E, J, K, O, P, T, U, & Z. The reason he can identify these letters is because these are the letters he can sign already. When a child signs a letter they are using all three types of learning;

Visual: they see their fingers make the letter or see it on the flashcard, paper, book etc.

Auditory: They hear the letter as they say it, as well as hearing you.

Kinesthetic: They are actually making the letter with their fingers

Children hear it..they forget it, See it..remember it, do it...understand it!!! Yes, children can learn their ABC's without signing the alphabet, but signing letters makes it easier and much more fun!

Don't Ring Doorbell

I love our neighborhood, and I have some fantastic neighbors. There is an older couple that lives next to us and they are literally an extra pair of grandparents to Colby. He calls them MiMi & Jo, and he absolutely adores them.

Look at our neighborhood from the snow day!

With all that said, there is also a down fall to living in a subdivision. Someone rings my doorbell all the time. Every salesperson hits us up with Rainbow vacuum cleaners, cutco knives, children's books, landscaping, alarm systems, and of course children selling fundraiser items and politicians trying to get a vote.

Well...this doesn't work well for us because Colby wakes up every time he hears the doorbell and nap time goes right out the window.

One day last week I had someone knock on the door and ask for a tire pressure gage and Colby started to stir around but didn't wake up. I sat on the couch with my hot tea and prepared to relax when, yea you guessed it......the door bell rang. I ran as quickly as possible and grabbed Bentley (his yappy bark is out of control) and I dashed out of the door and prayed Colby didn't wake up. Sooooo, I found myself standing outside my front door in PJ's, holding Bentley's mouth shut, and standing before a man I didn't know. I was thinking to myself, this better be good. Ha, he began to tell me that he noticed my reindeer keep falling over and gave me suggestions to correct the problem. In my head I was screaming, "ughhhhhhhhhhh are you kidding me?" He was really nice, but I didn't understand anything he was talking about.

I went back inside finished my tea and got busy doing a few chores. Colby sleeps for about 3 hrs and it had only been 1hr & 15 mins and low and behold...........there goes the doorbell again. This time it was my sister ( who knows Colby's nap time but has no children & no clue, God love her).

Yep, this time he started screaming, "mommy" and was done with nap time.

I was so frustrated and remembered what my best friend Crystal had given me for Chase. Ahhh ha........I know how to fix the problem.

This now hangs on my door the entire time Colby is sleeping and sometimes even when he isn't!

We haven't had anymore interrupted naps!!!!!!!!
