Bryce's 3rd Birthday Party

If you are looking for a fun place to have a birthday party, the Ag Museum might be what your looking for! My cousin, Christi, just had her little boy's 3rd birthday party there and it was great! There is a nice pavilion with tables and it is very shaded. The children got to feed farm animals, ride ponies, a train, and a carousel. It was a really cute idea and Colby really enjoyed everything. The only thing he didn't like was the the huge hog. It stuck it's big nose through the cage and Colby started crying, hopefully he won't have nightmares of big, wet hog noses! Christi had treat bags for all the older children and for the babies she gave them a cute little feeding bowl with a spoon and fork. I thought it was very thoughtful to give them something they could use. Here are some fun pics of the party!

He loved the carousel!

Colby's new favorite thing is looking out of the window and he absolutely loves the rain! He will watch it forever and he starts banging on the window and yelling with excitement!

I have been kinda sad because now that Colby can crawl everywhere, he has changed so much. He use to sit in my lap, cuddle, listen to me sing, and be content but not anymore. He won't sit in my lap long enough for me to bleak an eye much less sing "The Wheels on the Bus". I've always thought he was so laid back but he was just tricking me this whole time! He is constantly on the go and can't be still. He does about 20 turnovers before I get his diaper or clothes on. It really has been fun watching him change so much and seeing how fast he learns and what makes him excited, but I still want to cuddle :(

One thing that does make Colby sit still is to get my camera out. It's the funniest thing, he loves for me to take his picture!

Baby Sign
Colby signed milk today for the first time. I have been signing to Colby since he was three months old and he still hasn't started signing back a whole lot yet. He has signed eat, change, milk, and we think he was trying to sign potty, but he doesn't use these signs on a daily basis yet. Most babies that learn sign start signing back between 7-10 months. I hope he starts to sign back soon! He looks like he has been trying to sign things lately but it's not a correct sign, which is the beginning signs of a baby that is trying to communicate back with sign language, so that's a good thing!

Generations of Love

Colby and I went to eat lunch with daddy and Colby got to play around in the fieldhouse. He visited with coaches and talked a little football talk! Well tonight was just the beginning of another LONG football season. Richland played Philadelphia in a jamboree game and next Friday night is the big Florence vs Richland game. Don't get me wrong I LOVE football, I just hate not having a husband for 4 months! Colby's great-grandparents came to visit today and could not believe how mobile he is now! Colby is so blessed to have so many wonderful family members that love him so much. He not only has the best grandparents but he also has 3 wonderful great-grandparents on Chris's side and one on my side of the family. Mamaw and Pawpaw (his great-grandparents) are almost in their 80's and act like thier in their 30's. They go to the gym every morning, look great, and they drive every Friday night to see chris's dad coach football, no matter where it is. I told them today that I hope I'm just like them when I'm their age. They also collect all their change, roll it, and bring it for Colby's savings account, how sweet, right?

I could tell you about how much his grandparents love him and what all they do for him, but I would be here all night! I think it's such a blessing for Colby to be surrounded by so many generations of LOVE!

Colby loves his birthday suit!

I was wondering if my son is the only one that loves his birthday suit. He can't stand putting on a diaper or any clothes. He goes around all day naked as a jay bird. I really don't mind him enjoying his day in the nude (it actually makes potty time easier), but I wish he liked clothes just a little bit. He cries every night when I put his PJ's on, I guess he wants to sleep naked too! If I put just a diaper on him, he knows how to take it off. Once I get the clothes on him he is fine but it sure is a pain during the tramatic procedure!

My biggest fear happened tonight. Colby was crawling toward me and Bentley snapped at his face. He didn't cut the skin enough to make it bleed but it made a mark on his face. Bentley has never been a big fan of children but I thought it would be different with Colby. He has growled at Colby several times, but I really didn't think he would ever bite him. I've had Bentley for 6 years and he is so jealous and so protective of me. I felt really bad the last couple of weeks because we were discussing the possibility of finding him a new home, but now I don't feel bad at all. I know now that it's something that has to be done because I will never allow Bentley to ever hurt Colby again. Bentley was my baby for so long and you could have never told me in a million years that I would ever get rid of him but my child's safety comes first! I really want to find him a good home. He needs to go to someone that doesn't have children and can give him a lot of attention. He really is the sweetest dog to his owners but he can be very protective.

I'm sad but Bentley has to go bye bye!

8 months old

Colby is eight months old today, and I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. Everyone tells you that before you have children but you never really understand until you experience it.

Colby is doing great taking 3 naps a day and sleeping around 12 hrs at night. Everyone ask me how I got him to be such a great sleeper. I promise I'm not super mom and have some special touch, and it's not because Colby is so wonderful (of course he is to me) but it's because I did everything the Baby Whisperer said to do. This book is amazing and it will answer any problem you will ever have about sleep, eating, behavior, etc. It is definetly a must have!

I read both of these books and I would recommend just reading the Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems. It has everything her first book does and 100 times more. It is also an updated version. I still look things up in this book all the time and it goes into the toddler years.

Colby now says Mama and it's the best thing I've ever heard! He has been making the sound for awhile but he never directed it towards me. I was trying to get him to sleep the other day and he looked up at me, said mama in a pitiful voice, and then gave me a kiss. I was so excited and happy that I completly ruined nap time, but I didn't care. Later that day I went to get him down from the coffee table and he did it again. I realized he had learned that saying Mama and giving me a big, slobbery kiss pretty much let him get away with anything. I gave him a big kiss back, but I stood my ground and made him get down. He tried it again later with pulling on the curtains, he is very persistent, hehe!

Well I thought the sweet kisses were only for mommy but he started passing out kisses to daddy, Gammy, and Paw. Not only does he give family his kisses but now he gives them to everyone.

His standing up in the bed is still a problem. Chris let the matress all the way down and now the rail hits him right at his chin. It works much better because now he can't hit his head on the top rails. I laid Colby down for his nap and while I was watching him on the monitor, I realized that he had been standing for a long time and wasn't making any noise. I went in there to check on him and he had chewed a hole in his very expensive bed that will be used for his toddler bed and then a full bed. He even had little brown flakes all around his mouth, real safe, right?

For now we had to wrap curtains all around the front rail, yes it looks very redneck!
I just don't understand why he thinks he has to stand up and not go to sleep. He will be holding onto the rail with his eyes closed. He will wait for me to come lay him down before he will give it up. Hopefully, when standing isn't such a new thing then this problem will become a thing of the past!

Colby went to visit Braxton and he wasn't to sure of Colby!

He was so precious and looks just like his mommy!

Signing Potty

This week has been crazy crazy crazy! Colby can crawl almost as fast as I can jog after him. He is no longer interested in playing with toys, he just wants to crawl and pull up on everything.

His Gammy bought him a little lion that he can hold onto and walk behind. He does great for the first few steps and then he tries to grab the lions head which makes him fall.

FALL is a word that I have come to hate with a passion. Colby falls all day long and it scares me half to death! Most babies pull up and then it takes them awhile to actually let go and try to walk, not Colby. He thinks that he can already walk and he can't. No matter how many times he falls, he is ready to try again. Pulling up has also ruined his sleep. Colby was going to sleep on his own without any crying and that has not happened in the last couple of days. The reason being, he doesn't have time to lay down and fall asleep because he has to practice standing. He pulls up and then he ends up falling and bumping his head which makes him cry, and then I have to run in there and rock him to sleep. I watch on his video monitor and it's makes me a nervous wreck. He fell one day and hit the top of the bed right between his eyes (you can see in this pic). I rushed in and picked him up and I cried with him. I know that's probably not the best way to calm a crying baby, but I couldn't help it. My best friend, told me "just wait until someone hurts his feelings, then you will really cry."

Infant Potty Training is going great, he has only gone through two diapers today and he has done so well with pooping in the potty. I used to have to watch for his poop signals but the last couple of days he just goes when I put him on the potty. I even took a pic of him sitting by his little potty with poop in it so I could put it in his baby book! I won't post it because I know that's gross to everyone but me!
We still keep signing potty every time and hopefully he will learn to use it soon.

Here is an eight month old signing potty

I have not read these two books but several moms have told me that they are the best books for infant potty training

Great Blog for Infant Potty Training

Colby has been doing great with Potty Time. He loves his new potty and when he gets done we dump it into the big potty and he likes to flush it down! He always uses the potty in the morning and 15 minutes after he nurses. He has only done poo poo a couple times in his diaper in the last couple of weeks, which I greatly appreciate. It really cuts done on diaper washing! Of course, he still uses his diaper often but it's not about him being completely potty trained at 8 months old, it's preparation so he will be between 15-24 months. Chris and I were giving him a bath a few nights ago and we realized he was trying to sign something but we weren't quit sure what it was. All of the sudden he started to TT in the tub. We think he was signing potty but we aren't positive. I have been showing him the potty sign every time we potty so he might have actually been trying to tell us that he had to potty.

Here is a great blog to read about infant potty training, and she has a video showing you how to sign potty. Scroll down to August 22 and it's her eight month old signing potty and using the potty.

This Saturday was Wyatt Foster's 1st birthday and we had a lot of fun! Colby got to meet Mrs. Carsyn and do a little swimming with her. Carsyn is very vocal and for some reason Colby kept getting startled every time she yelled at him. I told him he better get use to girls being loud because he has to deal with it forever! I'm not sure why he gets so startled, he also was scared when someone picked him up and was talking loud in his face. She was just playing but he started crying. I thought maybe because he isn't use to loud voices since Chris and I aren't loud people but my mother is very loud and he loves it. I guess it's just when a stranger does it.....not sure. Chris said we have to do something about that because he can't be a scardy cat, men huh? I'm not worried, I'm sure he will grow out of it and until he does I will be there to save him!

We Got a Crawler

Colby is crawling all over the place and I'm loving it. He is so much happier now that he can go go go!

At first he would not crawl on the tile floor because he didn't like how it felt on his knees. He finally got over it and now he has more space to explore besides just his room.
