Baby-Led Weaning

Baby-led weaning is my preference when it comes to feeding. Baby girl is almost 7 months old and just started showing signs of readiness, so I decided to give her a little taste. I know using puree food isn't really recommended with BLW, but I went with applesauce, and encouraged her to navigate the spoon.

She wasn't a big fan.....

but she thought the spoon was fabulous!!

It was a fun experience that we will continue to explore on her own time!
I have breastfed her on demand since day one, and I know her cues as if they are my own......I don't expect it to be any different with solids. I'm also not in any rush to change her diet, breast milk serves ample nutrients and wholesome fats, it's really all baby girl needs right now,
and her spoon, of course!!!

Bubbles & Bugs

Spring brings bubbles & bugs!!!
Getting dressed  means putting on underwear, at least to my squirts it does. I'm done fighting that battle!

Bug collecting is a blast!

I had to explain to Chase that we don't catch spiders or a roach (which I'm not admitting was in my home)....eeeek!!

My boys find solace in all things Spring!!

Sitting Pretty

Josie Kathryn decided she would give sitting up a shot, I think she enjoys the view. What she doesn't enjoy is me removing her book to take a picture!
Just look at that face. How in the world will I ever say no to her....the odds are not in my favor!

I love to revisit the boy's milestones to see how baby girl compares, it's very interesting.
I create photo books for each year of my children's lives and they are definitely a favorite in our household.....the boys absolutely love them!!

Take a peek at Chasey Poo at 6 months...

( 9 months)

I'm hoping she doesn't rush through life as quickly as her brothers!

So far, so good......she is more than content with sitting pretty and taking it slow!

Easter Baptism- 2012

We started this years Easter celebration at our church egg hunt.

Mr. EB brought some goodies the boys enjoy! They absolutely love to fly kites at the rez, blow bubbles all day, get their sidewalk art on, and never get enough when it comes to puzzles!!!

I was hoping Colby would be a huge fan of his new glove and get excited about the upcoming
T-ball season, but the light up egg stole the show.

Baby girl got a gift that far exceeded anything from Mr. EB, she received a new birth in baptism and became a child of God!

She was baptised in elegant attire- her beautiful gown has graced every Jones baby in the previous 60 years.

Love- All Else is Hogwash!

Living in a small, Mississippi town in 1994 was hard times for my sister. At seventeen she was a fun-loving girl, well-liked, and could out play most boys in just about any sport....to this day people still talk about her athleticism- she was a red-headed, spit fire that could play ball!

She pretended to be happy and devote all her time to athletics, but then there came a point when living a lie was just more than she could bare, she was done.  Revealing her true self made her life spiral out of control, after all being GAY makes you a different person, right?  A person that should no longer be popular but mocked, no longer be your friend but an outcast, and no longer be someone that is accepted. I was only twelve years old, but I remember the gossip, the gossip that kept Carrie up crying at night, the gossip that became the culprit of arguments in our home, and the gossip that my mom prayed would just go away. Gossip can be the devil himself.

It was all shameful.

I wish I could say that I was different from all the others, but I'm not sure I was. I felt embarrassed when people would say- I heard your sister is gay, how gross!  I often became very defensive and deep down I was angry at my sister for making me have to deal with it, I was a pretty self-absorbed twelve year old.

Carrie couldn't escape the ridicule or the feelings of disappointment she was causing our family, that is until she got lost in alcohol and drugs. She found a group of accepting friends and together they shut the world out with anything that relieved pain.

A nightmare that began so long ago seems to be subsiding, Carrie's addiction led her down a dark road and in the end took her freedom, but she is clean, she is healing, and she was saved! The elation in her voice was unforgettable when she exclaimed- I said the prayer!

This week we find out how long she will be absent from our daily lives. We aren't praying for the shortest sentence, but just that God's will be done! As I was running today, I started playing the
what-if game.....what if I would have been more accepting at that time. What if my reaction would have been............

You are gay? Thanks for being honest! I'm here for you!  No matter what your lifestyle choices are, I'm proud to be your sister and I love you! I choose to love you right where you are, not who I think you should be!

I know that's why God made it clear that the greatest commandment is love. It wasn't my place to judge, only love.....I was foolish. Of course, I made it known to her as the years passed but what damage was already done?

As I open my heart up and get all these thoughts out, I glance over at my sweet, sleeping babies and I make a promise to them-

I will love and accept you no matter what, RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE!

Then I whispered in their ear-

Love is the greatest commandment and all else is hogwash, don't ever be foolish like mommy once was!

Until Next Time............

I Guess I'll Marry Mom!

Meet Kate, the girl that has stolen Colby's heart!!

Looking over my shoulder, Colby commented- hey that's Kate, I just love her smile in that picture and her hair blowing!

I don't even know if Top Gun has ever noticed such qualities in a picture of me before, not sure how Colby is a natural romantic!

He also has figured out the opposite sex quite quickly.  He informed me once-
Mom, I use to aggravate Kate, but now I just do what she tells me to do.

While riding down the road, I was eavesdropping on their conversation-

Kate, I really think you should marry me!

No, Colby I have to marry Hughes.

Okay, marry him first and then marry me.

Cooooolby, you only get married ONE time!!

Oh, I guess I'll marry Mom then!!
(Gigantic grin on my face)

Sure I was second choice, but I will take it!!

Play Garden Welcomes Rollie Pollies!

Top Gun decided to get his thumb a little green this spring and grow a garden. I love the entire experience for the boys- working, caring for their plants, learning about life and delayed gratification.....that is if our plants survive and provide! As for me, I'm Henny Penny, but I'm cool with that!

After the garden was prepared and planted, Chase didn't like the idea that he couldn't move the dirt around, replant the tomatoes, or basically just pull a plant up and get rid of it while he was digging for worms.

An idea I recalled from Pinterest got my wheels spinning....gotta love some Pinterest!

I took the boys to Lowe's and purchased a few goods for a play garden, now they can get creative in their own space while daddy tends to his domain!

The best part of building our garden was the boys discovering rollie pollies!!
